PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
"Desire" is a new full-length theatre song-cycle/musical about gay life in the US in the 1970s. Activists and hedonists, drag queens hustlers and workers. Based on the book "States of Desire" by Edmund White, music by Peter Murphy, book and lyrics by Peter Scott-Presland. Plays/records at the Albany Empire in Deptford, London June 30th to July 2nd.
 


CHARACTERS
     
CAST MEMBER (18-30 Male )
This is an ensemble show, where all 12 cast members do solo work and chorus. This is a young Latino called Ronnie, small, intense, tenor. Sight reading and complex harmony skills essential, and also American accents
   
CAST MEMBER (16-24 Male )
All 12 cast members will be in a democratic ensemble mixing solo and chorus work. This performer will play a teenage hustler, all bluster and false macho, but underneath desperately needy. Bass. Sight reading and complex harmony skills essential. Also American accents.
   
CAST MEMBER (18-24 Male )
All 12 cast members will be in a democratic ensemble mixing solo and chorus work. This will be a young houseboy on Fire Island, naive, dreamy, into nature, cute. Tenor range. Sight reading and complex harmony skills essential. Also American accents.
   
CAST MEMBER (16-70 Male )
"Desire" requires 12 singer/actors who will do a mixture of solo and chorus singing. 4 x tenor; 4 x baritone; 4 x bass. It is through-composed with 26 songs. Some songs are character songs, in others the soloist is more of a narrator. Sight-reading and complex harmony skills essential, also American accents.
